The portfolio of this team’s past projects continue to bring tremendous value to their owners today. These projects include:

[Construction Cost Control.Com] JFK International Airport Cogeneration Project, 100 MW

    Year Completed: 1995
    100 Megawatt Cogeneration Facility
    Merchant Plant Capability

Installation of Underground Thermal Distribution System to all Airline Terminal Buildings

This project is a 100 megawatt cogeneration facility supplying low temperature hot water, chilled water and electricity to all terminals and buildings at John F. Kennedy International Airport.

By utilizing LM6000 turbines and heat recovery steam generators in a new wing of the existing central utilities plant, the developer (KIAC Partners) supplied the airport with heat, air conditioning, and power needs; any excess power returned to the utility grid system for “wheeling.” Part of this project involved installing an underground thermal distribution system to all airline terminal buildings in order to change the system from high to a low temperature hot water system. The same thermal distribution system also carried chilled water, sensors, and controls so that the central computer can monitor flows, temperatures, and breaks should they occur. This is the first privatized development of its kind at the New York City Port Authority Airport Facility.

Jacksonville Electric Authority’s Northside Repowering Project

Jacksonville Electric Authority’s Northside Repowering Project, featuring the world's largest CFB boilers installed to repower two existing steam turbines, burning a pet coke/coal mix, 600 MW total.

    Jacksonville Electric Authority
    Jacksonville, FL
    Year Completed: 2001

    [Construction Cost Control.Com]

Jacksonville Electric Authority Northside Repowering Project involved the construction of two 297 MWe CFB boilers, and the majority of the balance of the plant to supply steam to two existing steam turbines. The fuel used was a petroleum coke/coal mixture. These boilers are the largest CFB boilers in the world. The construction was completed over a 30 month period within budget and on time.

[Construction Cost Control.Com] Bayswater Peaking Facility, New York City, 54 MW

    Florida Power & Light Co.
    Location: Queens, NYC
    Year Completed: 2002

The Bayswater Peaking Facility project involved the construction of a 54 megawatt natural gas fired dual gas turbine unit. This project was successfully executed as a fast-track project using a blended team with the EPC contractor. The project was completed on time and under budget over a 7 month duration.

[Construction Cost Control.Com] Jamaica Bay Peaking Facility, New York City, 54 MW

    Florida Power & Light Co.
    Location: Queens, NYC
    Year Completed: 2003

This project was a 50 megawatt dual-fuel dual gas turbine unit. This project was executed as fast track project with an Owner-as-Construction Manager self- performed construction execution strategy.

The project team mitigated severe weather and a late notice-to-proceed to achieve successful commercial operation in support of the summer peak load period for LIPA. The project was completed in a 5 month time period.

Marcus Hook, PA Cogeneration Facility Project Rescue, 750 MW

    Florida Power & Light Co.
    Location: Philadelphia Area
    Year Completed: 2004

This project was a 750 MW combined cycle plant built on an ultra-fast track. The project team was brought in to perform significant cost control savings and recovery through negotiation of changes, reimbursable invoice review/negotiations, backcharge assertion and claim defense.
